Creating Spa – The Ultimate in Stress Reduction and “Me Time”

One week until I head out to Green Valley Spa where I will be blogging daily May 2 to 9. I find Green Valley one of the best places to reduce stress and have some “me time” that – in my normal life – always seems to lose out to “the shoulds” (I should do this, I should do that, yada yada yada). Below I lay out a a typical day at the spa, about which I am going to begin dreaming now.

A Typical Day at Green Valley.

6.30 am wake up in amazing down everything, step onto Mediterranean ceramic tile floors, and head toward in-room coffee grinder

6.45 served spa breakfast in dining hall

7.15 to main building from which hikes leave. Greeted by awesome staff (usually including one of the family members who own the spa). Grab snacks the spa stocks (veggies, string cheese, trail mix, yogurt, fruit) and fill water bottles

8.00 arrive at amazing hike with scenery that blows my mind (or sleep in, stay back, and go to aquacize)

11.30 back from hike, shower off tons of red dirt

12.00 spa lunch, chat with other guests (really nice folks)

1.00 meditation with Mike (who makes meditation easy for spazzy thinkers)

2.00 stretch with Bonnie or Miriam, fitness goddesses

3.00 some class, like cardio boxing

4.00 some other class, like Pilates or Tai Chi with Harold

5.00 shower and glass of wine on terrace with my travel buddy.

6.00 served spa dinner by Chef Laurie in dining hall

7.00 treatment (e.g. Massage.. every night! Beyond indulgent.)

8.00 group of gals back to my aunt’s room for chit chat. Some contraband food / wine possible.

10.00 bed!

Stay tuned for my “gearing up for Green Valley Spa” posts. I am going to try to arrange a prize drawing for everyone who comments while I am out there (May 2 to May 9).  Green Valley Spa has their own line of skin and spa producs (Good Medicine).

P.s. Did I mention that Green Valley Spa served as prize sponsors for the Hot Mommas Project case study competition (role models for women and girls). So – they are cool and walk the talk about supporting us stressed out chicks (although, guys, you are showing up there more and more).
